Bernie Sanders, CNN Calls Out Democratic Party

Even the “Clinton News Network” has to agree that the Democrats are in bad shape these days.

The fact that Democratic National Committee (DNC) Chairman Tom Perez is making a cross-country “unity” tour with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders (who supported Congressman Keith Ellison of Minnesota for the DNC chairmanship) shows that perhaps finally the party of the Left is waking up to the fact that voters, really, REALLY don’t like Hillary Clinton (and globalism).

But still, what’s coming out of Sanders’ mouth differs from what other party members such as former DNC Chairwoman Debbie Wasserman-Schultz are saying and doesn’t necessarily take into account what voters in Red States want to hear. The only “unity” that seems apparent between Sanders and Perez seems to be that they both hate Donald Trump.

This persistent tone-deafness among the leaders of the Democratic Party has been one of their major weaknesses for the past several years, and it appears they’re no closer to resolving it now than they were prior to the 2016 election. There are even arguments to be made about whether Sanders really believes in everything that he’s saying now, versus what his take on issues was two years ago.

But it’s interesting to note that it’s Sanders who is touring with Perez (and who’s getting the lions’ share of applause, while Perez has been booed), not Clinton. Could the Democrats be thinking of putting Bernie at the top of their ticket for 2020?

That election is a long way off; however, the midterm ones of 2018 are much closer, and Sanders and Perez are going to quickly find that without truly unified messaging, the Democrats have little hope of overturning Republican majorities in the House and Senate, regardless of who’s speaking at the podium. Watch as CNN’s Nia-Malika Henderson confirms this.
