Former First Kid Defends America’s Newest First Kid

Kids have the right to be kids. They have the right to grow up, learn for themselves and just have a little fun. Barron Trump likely has had a very different childhood from most others. For one, few children have fathers who are worth more than a billion dollars.

However, Donald also seems to have been an excellent father bringing his other children up, as Ivanka, Donald Jr., and Eric have all gone on to be successful in their own right (Tiffany just finished college and is on her way to becoming successful in her own right).

Compare this to other billionaire hotel tycoons (namely the Hiltons) and it is possiblye to see the stark difference in upbringing. So, despite the wealth and likely strict father, Barron deserves to enjoy life as a 10 year old. Unfortunately the fact that Barron is only a child and didn’t ask to be put in the limelight didn’t stop people from targeting him.

Rosie O’Donnell kicked this off, making Barron a direct target of her Twitter posts. Rosie and Donald have had a nasty back and forth over the years. This is well documented. However, when she started to attack Barron, implying he was autistic, this crossed the line.

Other attacks towards the boy continued this past weekend, with one SNL “writer” eventually deleting her account due to the massive backlash.

Chelsea Clinton, former first kid, unexpectedly came to Barron’s aid. She is one of the few individuals who understands what it is like to be the child of a President. She pointed out that he did not ask for a public life or anything of this nature and he deserves to have the right to grow up. Check out Chelsea’s tweet on Barron—and her subtle jab at Trump—below.
