We’ve definitely seen this phenomenon before — African-American leaders and politicians using race-baiting techniques to rile up members of their community and divide them from the rest of America.
Many of these leaders (a perfect example is Congressional Black Caucus member Maxine Waters) have enriched themselves while telling the poorer members of their communities that they need to “fight the power” and continue to donate to organizations like the Democratic Party.
But the truth of the matter is the Democrats support the very policies and systems that keep these communities dependent on government handouts and services in the first place. These leaders say the only way things can change is if they’re continuously supported or re-elected, but, in fact, nearly nothing has changed, and their pleas are merely part of a vicious cycle that’s self-defeating.
In the NFL, continued protests by numerous African-American players have disrupted the sport even as Democratic politicians have encouraged and popularized the demonstrations. One supporter of these actions has been ESPN football anchor Jemele Hill. Hill was recently suspended by ESPN for suggesting that fans take out their anger on NFL management such as Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, who recently issued an absolute requirement for his players to stand during the national anthem. Hill suggested that sympathizers with the NFL protests should boycott advertisers supporting teams such as the Cowboys. President Trump has also weighed in on the matter via Twitter.
