Does Henry Kissinger know what he’s talking about?
The 94-year-old former Secretary of State and National Security Advisor under Presidents Nixon and Ford has had a lot to say lately about President Trump. As a veteran of foreign affairs, including the opening of China to the West in 1971(which was sparked by a secret trip Kissinger made to Beijing), Kissinger has a great deal of insight into world politics and how the leaders of other countries like China view our president.
In the ongoing crisis over North Korea, China plays a critically important role that must be delicately balanced with the security needs of the United States. In November, President Trump will travel to Beijing to meet with Chinese leader Xi Jinping and perhaps be able to put some of Kissinger’s advice to use in terms of trade deals and the security situation on the Korean peninsula. Kissinger has visited China 80 times since his first trip in the 1970s, and he’s likely the highest-ranking American former Cabinet member to have such a deep understanding of the People’s Republic.
In regards to the Communist nation, Kissinger also has been meeting lately with Breitbart News Chairman Steve Bannon, and the two men currently agree that the so-called “Middle Kingdom” poses the greatest long-term threat to the economic and military interests of the U.S.
Ever since the 1970s, every American president has consulted with Kissinger for advice on both foreign policy and the presidency overall. How Kissinger views President Trump should be of interest to all conservatives, many of whom see the former National Security Advisor as perhaps the most respected authority the U.S. has when it comes to international relations.
Watch, as Kissinger offers some sage words about Trump and how he believes the president will be viewed in a longer-term perspective.
