LA Wants Contractors to Reveal if they Work on Trump’s Wall

It’s McCarthyism all over again! In Los Angeles, the City Council has voted to propose requiring construction contractors working on city projects to reveal if they’ve had anything to do with helping to build President Trump’s southern border wall with Mexico. There are similar efforts being made at a state level by Democratic state reps.

Is such a litmus test legal? That’s a question for the courts to decide. But as Republican National Committee (RNC) member Harmeet Dhillon tells Fox’s Stuart Varney, the traditional image of California as a bastion of liberalism that can ride roughshod over the wishes of the federal government is not always 100 percent accurate.

Of course, even if the L.A. City Council gets its way, clever contractors could always skirt the issue by forming separate companies or partnerships to have their workers tackle federal projects. Less discussed by the media is that the wall will actually help laborers employed by the types of contractors working on it because ultimately, fewer illegal immigrants will be allowed into the country when the wall is finished, which will drive up wages and the availability of new jobs.

The fact that L.A. is a “sanctuary city” has cut into public support for illegal immigrants, and even if the city council was successful in passing this initiative, it probably can’t realistically enforce its mandate. Watch as the RNC’s Dhillon informs Varney’s viewers about the political situation in the Golden State.
