Maybe you have heard of him, maybe you haven’t, but Milo Yiannopoulos is a British born journalist who is an editor at Breitbart News. Naturally the far left Liberals despite him.
Nothing wrong with that. You don’t need to be a fan of every single author out there. Ultimately, there are plenty of people who do read him though, which is why he recently signed to a pretty major book deal.
However, some book stores and chains have stated they will not carry the book. Other celebrities came out and blasted the publisher for even signing a book deal because they don’t like what Milo has to say.
Here’s the thing. People complaining about Milo Yiannopoulos obviously have forgotten about freedom of speech. The fact of the matter is if you want, you can go down to the corner book store and pick up Mein Kampf (Hitler’s book) or Helter Skelter. Is there hate speech in these books? Of course there is. But you can buy them and read them if you wish.
Not to put Milo Yiannopoulos anywhere near the same level as Hitler or Manson or to suggest he write hateful stories. It’s just to illustrate the ability to read the words of another author is important and is no different than people banning To Kill a Mockingbird several decades ago.
The real winner of all these people protesting is Milo Yiannopoulos. Why? It is bringing more attention to him. Readers who may not have heard of him will now learn of his name and possibly his ideals. More will buy his books, more will read him and ultimately, he’ll receive larger payouts for future publications. Interested in learning more about Milo Yiannopoulos? Watch this quick video.
