The state of California is a bit of an anomaly when it comes to politics. Southern California, home of San Diego, Los Angeles, Hollywood and all the liberal actors and big wig entertainers, uniformly vote Democrat. Due to this, if liberal politicians tell them to think one way, they will almost always lean this way.
However, the rest of the state is a bit different. Northern California is far different from Southern California (and before someone from San Francisco attempts to say they are “Northern” California, it is important for them to check out a map, as they are in the middle of the state).
Since Donald Trump passed his immigration executive orders, the idea of sanctuary cities has popped up. A sanctuary city is essentially a city that does not go after illegal immigrants in order to remove them. Of course, a good portion of California’s population is made up of illegal immigrants as they work in the fields throughout California (especially in the region between Los Angeles and San Francisco).
California politicians like to portray the state as one that wants to maintain the idea of sanctuary cities. However, that is not actually the case, especially if it means protecting criminals who have broken the law, caused property damage and even injured law abiding citizens.
