When a President selects his cabinet members, many of the individuals are people he has never worked with professionally before. There are many variables at play when choosing such a person for a job, and each president has different criteria he takes into account. However, most Presidents stick with their cabinet members until either the end of a term or unless the individual decides to step down for one reason or another.
President Trump is different from nearly all other presidents before him though. Most who have become the head of the United States have done so after serving as governors or members of Congress. These positions help create political connections, but in reality do nothing when it comes to selecting the best candidates for the job. As the head of a multi-national, billion dollar enterprise, Donald Trump has had to not only hire professionals, but fire them when not satisfied with their job performance. That makes him uniquely qualified with regards to removing cabinet members and going with someone else who might be a better fit for the job.
In recent weeks, Donald Trump has become increasingly frustrated with Jeff Sessions. There has been wide spread speculation as to this, although the President himself has not said much in way of if this is true or not. Newt Gingrich has come forward to confirm the frustrations and that the president really is looking less and less favorably on Jeff Sessions. What might this mean?
