Will former Fox News host Bill O’Reilly be making a return to television? That’s the million-dollar question that may be answered by the latest moves made by an O’Reilly associate who’s taken action via the registration of several specific web domains. When O’Reilly was at Fox, his show was the most-watched program on any of America’s 24-hour news channels, and it set a trend for opinion-based news journalism.
Viewers may remember that O’Reilly was ousted by Fox News after being at the network for more than 20 years. This was due to payouts related to sexual harassment lawsuits, but it’s unclear how much merit those suits had (broadcasters are typically loath to let such suits proceed in favor of paying off accusers to make such matters go away quietly). The straight-talking host was known for not shying away from controversial topics and taking conservative stances in the face of overwhelming pressure for political correctness and comity.
O’Reilly thereafter expressed interest in continuing to work in broadcast journalism, and as Gary Franchi of The Next News Network reports, at least one major news channel had made an offer to O’Reilly for him to join its organization. But with a Fox audience of at least two million broadcast viewers (not counting web users), O’Reilly is likely not to take just any offer that comes along. Watch as Franchi explains the details of this latest news wrinkle focused on the tenacious ex-commentator.
