What is the left’s infatuation with Justin Trudeau? Sure, he has said a lot of progressive things. He’s talked about open borders, free trade, helping the poor and promoting peace, but how have is actions compared to those pretty words?
He’s made Canada’s border less accessible than ever before. In the face of unprecedented illegal immigration, his response has been even more severe than Trump’s moves with ICE. His aims to help the poor have been equally contradictory. His international trade negotiations have fallen completely flat. Meanwhile, his domestic economic policy has rapidly expanded Canada’s deficit and bungled promised tax cuts, and he has overseen a continued decline in Canada’s long-term GDP growth. Remember, this is a country that hasn’t seen two-percent growth or higher since the ‘80s.
Despite all of this, the left loves to fawn over Trudeau. They publish countless fluff pieces talking about how nice or attractive he is. They celebrate every new empty promise. Mostly, they try to present him as a North American anti-Trump.
In some ways, they couldn’t be more right. While Trump is jump-starting the U.S. economy, securing the border, annihilating international terrorist organizations and redrawing trade agreements across the globe, Trudeau is hardly given any notice in international discussions. Even amongst Canadians, the difference has been noticed, and you can find more than a little Trump-envy.
Watch the video and see how Canada and the rest of the world really feel about the “nice guy” Trudeau.
