Comey Admits Trump Never Pressured him to End Probe

Did James Comey commit perjury? That’s the question this telling clip raises as Comey quite clearly states under oath to a Congressional committee that a president has never attempted to hinder an FBI investigation for political purposes during his reign. This contradicts what he apparently wrote in a memo that was reported on May 16, alleging that the president had asked him if he was going to stop investigating former National Security Advisor Mike Flynn, and asking if he (the president) was himself under investigation.

Years ago, Comey was supposed to be one of the most nonpartisan, objective candidates to head the FBI in recent history. But, after a tumultuous past two years, Comey’s loyalties and allegiances have been questioned numerous times after he declared the investigation into Hillary Clinton’s private email server opened, then closed, then re-opened and then closed again once more. The New York Times has claimed (via an anonymous source) that the president called Comey a “nutjob.” Whether or not he actually said that, it’s now clear why that’s probably true.

Comey has always tried to play the two big political parties off each other, but in Washington, you can only play that game so long before you have to end up having to pick one team or the other. It’s quite possible — due to Comey’s ties to Clinton Foundation-related bank HSBC — that Comey chose his preferred side long ago and neglected to inform the president of his decision after January of this year.

For Trump, the only question may not have been whether to fire Comey, but when. Politically, it might have made more sense on Inauguration Day. By waiting, Trump may have been pennywise and pound-foolish from a political perspective. Sometimes it’s better to take a little bit of pain upfront to avoid more discomfort later.

Watch as YouTube’s Mark Dice makes the case that this whole affair is cut and dried.
