Hillary Clinton Slammed for Insensitive Comments Made Immediately after Las Vegas Tragedy

Oh, Hillary Clinton.

In the hours immediately following the tragic shooting of 58 people in Las Vegas and the injuring of 500+ others, the former Democratic presidential candidate saw fit to weigh in on Twitter with her opinions on the incident. Rather than express grief or compassion, Clinton wanted to talk politics and said she had at least one easy solution for horrific crimes such as this: banning silencers.

With a poor choice of words, Clinton instantly showed that not only does she place politics above humanity in times of crisis like this, but she also clearly knows nothing about how guns work. When she used the term “silencer,” she actually meant “suppressor,” a device that will protect the hearing of a person firing a gun but will still mandate the use of ear protection.

Clinton may have had an idea that somehow suppressors work like the silencing mechanisms seen on guns in many movies, where a gunshot sound is muffled to an incredibly low level, making it hard to detect. Of course, any gun expert will tell you that using a suppressor on a fully automatic weapon is impractical anyway (it could melt), and the noise level produced would not typically hide the location of a gunman in this or any other cases.

Clinton’s ignorance and callousness should be shocking, but knowing Clinton, they’re just further evidence that we should all be grateful this woman didn’t become president of the United States.
