James Comey Shopping Book Deal. Will it Have Any Dirt in It?

So, it appears that former FBI Director James Comey has written a book that he wants to be published and released to the public. Reportedly he wants to get out his side of the story.

The big question is how much dirt will be in it, if any — or will it be a yawner that simply rehashes the history of Comey’s barely eventful three-and-a-half-year term as director of the Bureau?

Of course, informed viewers will recall that Comey did have an extensive career before he joined the FBI, with stints as general counsel of defense contractor Lockheed Martin and as a director of the Swiss banking arm of Clinton Foundation-connected financial house HSBC (which has been fined multiple times for laundering money for drug kingpins, terrorists and other international criminals).

With his fingers in so many pies, there’s probably any number of stories that Comey could tell to keep readers entertained without having to broach previously unrevealed information about President Trump’s campaign and alleged Russian collusion (which Comey would like to believe he was terminated over).

Less discussed is that since he was a presidential appointee, Comey isn’t eligible for a severance package as he might have been in a different role (particularly had his termination been in the form of a layoff or possible mandatory resignation). Without a golden parachute, a book deal is one of the very few ways Comey can legally get some money out of his public termination for leaks of information to the media. Certainly, he can probably also go back to working in the private sector (or, perhaps, for the Clintons).

Watch the discussion on how juicy Comey’s book is expected to be.
