The left is trying everything they can to brand border security as a racist idea. If preventing illegal immigration is demonized and accepted by the public as immoral, the left wins their war to secure illegal votes. It’s been the basis of their strategy for decades. It’s obviously a ploy, and they have never shown any indication that they believe it. That is best understood when comparing Donald Trump to Barack Obama.
Trump was elected in no small part for his stance on immigration. He has worked hard to live up to campaign promises, but the existing government has undermined him at every chance. As a result, his success rate in border security is not where we would like it. In fact, 2017 only saw more arrests and/or deportations than one of Obama’s years, 2016.
If you look at the larger average, arrests and deportations under Obama dwarfed Trump’s numbers by huge margins. It shows two things. First, Democrats only want more illegal immigration when they think they can’t win an election. This has never been about fairness or humanitarian efforts to them. It’s about illegal votes.
Second, it shows how successfully they have stifled Trump’s efforts. Abolish ICE might be a stupid war cry, but the endless chain of injunctions and reviews for every single prosecution of our longstanding immigration laws is taking a toll. If you have a doubt, just take a look at this video. The numbers in it will astound you.
