Obama Becomes Nation’s Most Costly Former President

It’s more taxpayer money down the drain!

And as usual, there’s seemingly not much that can be done about it without major changes to the government’s standard operating procedure.

Former President Obama has set a dubious new record as he’s become the costliest ex-president for the United States to support. The federal government is legally required to pay for an office, a pension (which in Obama’s case is $236,000 per year) and various other perks, including round-the-clock Secret Service protection for the ex-president and his family. This is despite Obama earning close to a million dollars for two speeches he’s given to private groups since he’s left office and a $60 million book deal for his memoirs from publisher Penguin Random House.

While it’s normal for former presidents to collect income from the government no matter what their post-presidential status or job is, the lavish treatment Obama and his family enjoy while working diligently to undermine the new presidency of Donald Trump may seem like the height of fiscal ridiculousness to conservatives.

Obama, who is still living in Washington, D.C. in an 8,200-square-foot mansion in the ritzy Kalorama neighborhood of the city, has been jetting around the globe meeting with world leaders sometimes just days or even hours before they meet or met with President Trump. Is this someone who’s still convinced he’s president of the United States?

Watch as the video below spells out the infuriating details.
