See the Mexican President’s Reaction when he heard Trump Won the Election

While other countries around the world watched the presidential election, Mexico in particular left a close eye on political updates. After all, one of the major tent poles in the Donald Trump run for office included building a wall along the border between Mexico and the United States.

For those who are unfamiliar with the current border system, there are some walls (mostly erected during Bill Clinton’s presidency) but there are patches where at best a chain-link fence is positioned and at worse, there simply is nothing. While these areas are barren and are inspected by border patrol officers from time to time, it leaves those looking to cross an opening.

Now, Mexico didn’t necessarily come out and say it had anything against a wall. In fact, it would keep in those looking to illegally cross the border.

However, Donald Trump stated he would have Mexico pay for the wall, which is a major concern for Mexico and why the Mexican President was watching the election coverage closely.

When the news hit that Hillary had conceded the race to Donald Trump the Mexican peso took a nasty tumble against the U.S. dollar. It fell 12% and hit record lows. Analysts have predicted a quick comeback for the currency, but others are not so sure since one of Trump’s hallmark promises in his campaign was to pull out of the unbalanced free-trade agreement NAFTA which strongly favors Mexico.

Truth be told, the idea of every Mexican being upset about the election is far-fetched. As many state, outside of those crossing illegally, a wall wouldn’t affect them at all. Mexico’s President also stated he would work with Donald Trump. You can check out more in the provided video.
