The Straw that Broke the Planets Back

In the mid-1990s, Jeremy Piven starred in a movie called “PCU” that spoofed liberals’ unquenchable need to protest and rally around world-saving causes. It’s hard to say whether liberals just need a cause — any cause — to make themselves feel like they’re making a difference.

But like PCU, today’s liberals are obsessed with some of the most ridiculous ideas they believe will make a world of difference.

Liberals next nonsensical campaign to save the world: banning straws. The fate of the world apparently hinges on whether or not everyday people drink from the edge of a cup or suck fluids through a small plastic product.

In liberal Seattle, politicians and activists have rallied to ban straws with the backing of celebrity mouthpieces who say the United States discards 500 million straws every day. Yes, when an actor speaks, liberals listen. They omit the fact that actors are in no way shape or form experts about anything other than playing make believe.

According to environmental experts, banning straws will make no difference at all in terms of saving the environment. Where does that 500 million number come from you might ask?

Take a gander at this Reason video and watch liberals claim with absolute certainty that 500 million straws are destroying the planet every day. Try not to fall out of your seat laughing when you find out the source of the 500 million number. And, find out why liberal policies suck.
