Trump Predicts 2020 Victory with Help from Media

Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, Fox News contributor Kat Timpf, and Reason editor-at-large Matt Welch recently responded to President Trump’s comments to the New York Times in which he predicted he will win re-election in 2020 with the help of the media.

Trump said:

So they basically have to let me win. And eventually, probably six months before the election, they’ll be loving me because they’re saying, ‘Please, please, don’t lose Donald Trump.’

Kirk agreed with Trump by saying the President will not only overcome criticism but have a wonderful 2018. The co-founder of Turning Point USA said the media will not be able to ignore the current economic upturn and the explosion of growth that will occur over the next two years.

Welch points out that the press hates Trump but loves to cover him. He also believes that the President wouldn’t want it any other way. Welch makes an excellent observation that the one thing all Republicans agree on is their distaste for the media.

What the video examines is the reason why Trump would choose to challenge the mainstream media with such a bold statement. There is one thing Trump has proven he understands as well as anyone over the last 20 years and that is branding. Other Republicans may get off message but he does not. While McConnell chose other terms than “tax cut”, the President was determined to call for nothing else.
