Whoops! Terrorist’s Suicide Vest Explodes During Burial Procession

Warning: this clip is somewhat graphic.

But obviously, if one chooses to bury a would-be suicide bomber, one should take the necessary precautions at that individual’s funeral procession. As has happened on more than one occasion, the death of one religious martyr has led to or been the immediate cause of many others. Although it’s not quite clear what the origin of the explosion seen in this clip is, it could well be that one person — whether it was the original bomber himself or someone in the crowd — was wearing a suicide vest.

It’s just one more reason why one likely should not join or associate with any extremist religious faction that’s at war with others — or with the West. In places like Pakistan, Afghanistan, Syria and Iraq, sights like what’s seen here have become all too common, as a textbook terrorist attack method is to cause one death and then trigger a second round of killings when people mourn or come to the aid of the people who died in the first round. This savage technique is a brutal reminder of what separates civilized societies from those that are not. Watch as the helpless cries of “Allahu Akbar” (Arabic for “God Is Greater”) are a poor substitute for the lack of planning or security at this obviously dangerous event.
