The problem with the news industry today is there isn’t just one problem. During previous generations the biggest issue you had in locating your news was what channel to turn to after dinner for the evening news, or what newspaper to subscribe to. Now, however, it is much more of a convoluted issue.
With the creation of the 24-hour news network, news stations no longer could simply present facts and be done with it. News stations needed to focus on increasing viewership in order to boost advertising dollars. Ultimately, this pushed news towards the side of entertainment.
As newspapers relevance started to come under question due to the rise of the Internet, remaining news sites and stations realized to draw visitors they needed more outlandish, head turning titles. Even major news outlets are turning away from fact based reporting and are instead spinning the information to fit their own needs in order to drive traffic to the pages.
The most recent iteration of this is when several major newspapers took to calling President Trump an Anti-Semite. They attempted to take several small parts of a story (instead of telling the whole thing) and spin it that President Trump is against the Jewish community in America.
When interviewed, one member of the Hasidic Jewish community, who has had several run-ins with the president in the past (before he ever entered politics) had some choice words when asked if he thought the president was an Anti-Semite. Find out how those in the orthodox Jewish community see President Trump.
