Jennifer Welch read the post out loud on her podcast Thursday: "We're digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again." Then she and co-host Angie Sullivan dropped their heads to the desk and laughed for more than twenty seconds.
Charlie Kirk was 31 years old when he was shot and killed at Utah Valley University in Orem on September 10, 2025. His accused killer, Tyler Robinson, is facing the death penalty.
The episode was titled "Drinking MAGA Tears." Welch and Sullivan host "I've Had It," a left-wing podcast on YouTube that aired the segment the day after Democrats swept the midterm elections. Welch surfaced the social media post joking about exhuming a murdered man and murdering him again, and the two women thought it was the funniest thing they'd ever seen.
When the laughter finally subsided, Welch composed herself long enough to say, "People are so f---ing clever. I love this country."
Sullivan, still wiping her eyes, added: "I'm like crying."
Then Welch delivered the line that tells you everything about where these two live mentally: "Fox News makes me hate America, right? These people make me love it."
These people. The ones joking about desecrating the grave of a 31-year-old who was shot from a rooftop 400 feet away while speaking to college students. That's what makes Jennifer Welch love America.
The segment didn't stop at grave humor. Sullivan then floated a claim about Kirk's killer: "Other than he was shot by somebody that was super MAGA family." Welch backed her up: "He was shot by a MAGA person."
That's a lie. Tyler Robinson registered to vote without party affiliation. His mother told investigators he had become increasingly supportive of gay and transgender rights and had begun dating his transgender roommate. Both of Robinson's parents are registered Republicans, which Sullivan apparently confused with the accused killer's own politics. Prosecutors pursuing the death penalty against Robinson have presented evidence that he targeted Kirk precisely because he disagreed with Kirk's views — the opposite of a "MAGA" motivation.
So the sequence on "I've Had It" went like this: laugh at the idea of digging up a murdered conservative's body, then lie about who killed him and why.
Welch seemed aware the clip would travel. After the twenty-second laughing fit, she looked into the camera and said, "I'm zooming in for Fox," before adding a grinning "No comment." She knew exactly what she was doing. The joke wasn't an accident. The lie about Robinson wasn't a mix-up. The episode title wasn't subtle. "Drinking MAGA Tears" — over a man who was assassinated.
A judge ruled on September 1, 2026, that Tyler Robinson will stand trial for aggravated murder charges that carry the death penalty. Robinson pleaded not guilty. His defense attorneys have requested until 2029 to prepare their case. The legal system is treating Charlie Kirk's killing as one of the most serious crimes on the books.
Jennifer Welch treated it as content.
Welch's podcast has a GLAAD award. Sullivan is a regular presence in progressive media circles. These aren't anonymous accounts posting edgy memes. These are public figures with sponsors, with audiences, with platforms that YouTube's algorithm actively promotes.
Twenty seconds. That's how long Jennifer Welch laughed at the idea of digging up a 31-year-old's corpse. Tyler Robinson's trial hasn't even started yet.
