President Trump sat down with NBC's Kristen Welker in Wisconsin over the weekend and did what every American has fantasized about doing to a hostile journalist — he told her the network was crooked, called it quits, and walked away while the cameras were still rolling. The clip hit the internet like a freight train on June 7th and it's still picking up speed.
I mean, who among us hasn't wanted to do this at a Thanksgiving dinner, let alone on national television?
Trump didn't just leave. He dismantled the entire premise of the interview on his way out the door. "You're a one sided crooked network. Sorry. Let's call it quits because I've had enough," Trump told Welker, who reportedly sat there looking like someone who just watched her soufflé collapse. He wasn't done, either. "Your elections are crooked, and you're crooked, and Meet the Press is crooked. And so is ABC and CBS and CNN." That's not a man losing his cool. That's a man who's been keeping receipts for a decade and decided today was payday.
The interview had already gone sideways before the walkout. Welker pressed Trump on the proposed $1.8 billion anti-weaponization fund in the big reconciliation bill, clearly hoping to bait him into a gotcha moment. Trump didn't flinch. "If it was up to me, I'd pay them the kind of money that they deserve. Me, personally, I think the weaponization fund is a great idea," he said. No hedging. No backing down. Just a man who watched his supporters get railroaded by the Biden DOJ and isn't pretending it didn't happen.
"People have been hurt so badly by radical left lunatics that worked for the Biden administration and Sleepy Joe," Trump continued. "They're vicious. They're violent, what they did to people." He's talking about the January 6th defendants, the parents at school board meetings, the pro-lifers who got SWAT-raided at dawn. We all know the list.
Welker, to her credit — and I use that word loosely — tried to keep the train on the tracks. "Mr. President, please, I traveled all the way to Wisconsin," she pleaded. Imagine thinking that's a persuasive argument to Donald Trump. You flew coach to the Midwest, Kristen. The man dodged two assassination attempts. I think he's going to survive your disappointment.
Trump fired back without missing a beat: "I sat in the rain with you for an hour, on and off in the rain." Translation — I gave you more than you deserved and you still came at me sideways.
And because Trump never does anything halfway, he went ahead and torched the 2020 narrative one more time for good measure. "The election was rigged. It was a dirty election. And it's happening again right now in California," he said. "There's a lot of evidence. There's tremendous evidence. There's nothing but evidence." NBC's producers probably needed a defibrillator in the control room.
Here's what the corporate media will never understand. They think a walkout makes Trump look unhinged. His voters — we — see something completely different. We see a president who refuses to sit there and be lectured by people who spent four years covering for a man who couldn't find the exit of a stage. We see a guy who respects his own time more than their ratings.
Lifezette first reported the viral clip and it's easy to see why it's everywhere. This wasn't a tantrum. It was a termination. Trump fired NBC from his afternoon, and honestly, they should be grateful he showed up at all.
The legacy media keeps walking into the same trap. They book Trump thinking this time they'll corner him, this time they'll get the clip that ends him. And every single time, he flips the script and they end up being the story. You'd think after a decade of this they'd learn.
They won't. And we'll keep enjoying every second of it.
